It's no secret that I have super pale skin, I'm a natural redhead, ( a ginger, if you will) so that's kind of expected with my genetics. I've tried just about everything to achieve that perfect, golden, sun-kissed, natural-looking tan without actually tanning. I've stayed far away from tanning beds over the years. I've really only used a tanning bed a handful of times just to see what the hype was about and I actually never liked the way my face looked after, dry and covered in freckles! Don't get me wrong, freckles are adorable and I love mine, however, freckles represent skin damage and eventually lead to wrinkles.
Thankfully, people are starting to become more educated about the effects of tanning on your skin & the possible risk of skin cancer that arrises whenever you choose to tan in a bed, not to mention the leathery skin, premature aging, decreased immunity and loss of collagen (aka WRINKLES). My mom made sure I was educated at an early age about the risks of tanning and not wearing sunscreen. With all that said, I have spent many years and too much money on trying to find the perfect tan without exposing myself to harmful UV rays. I used to spend about $50 a week getting spray tans, only for them to (most of the time) end up too orange, too dark for my skin tone or too expensive. I decided to start using at-home tanning products unless I have an event that I need a really good spray tan for, so I've had my fair share of trial & errors when it comes to trying tanning products. Below, I have compiled a list of my top 4 favorite faux-tanning products for those of you wanting a natural-looking glow without all the negative health-related factors associated with tanning.
